This beautiful piece of jewelry comes from the Denver-based project, who works to help women out of poverty by providing them with tools and skills to help rehabilitate back into the community. They receive training to prepare gift baskets full of gourmet foods such as bean soup and homemade cookies and handmake jewelry such as this beautiful necklace.

Since 1989, this Denver-based group, has been helping women break the cycle of poverty and unemployment by teaching job readiness and life skills for entry-level jobs through employment in their gourmet food production and handmade jewelry manufacturing business. As a nonprofit organization, their mission is to change women's lives by providing stepping stones to self-sufficiency through social enterprise. As a result of her volunteer work at a women’s homeless shelter, the founder saw that while the shelter kept women safe, there was a void in making lasting changes in their lives. She bought $500 worth of beans and put two homeless women to work - the first step in building the social enterprise that exists today. The training opportunities have expanded dramatically over the years, and annual operating budget has grown from $6,100 to over $1.5 million. In 1993, King Soopers became the first grocery store to carry their products. Today they have helped over 300 women.
