In 2005, Ana founded her line with the purpose of creating the first designer handbags in Nicaragua made with artisan leather, each individually handcrafted. Her unique, stylish designs and the use of the finest artisan leather into a quality handcrafted product has positioned the brand as unique, authentic and original. Each handbag is a piece of art transmitting life, energy and a positive attitude. Each handbag is designed with the belief that beauty comes from details such as texture, color and shape.

The social mission is to train young adults, men and women, ages 18-23 year of age in the creation of handbags, shoes, belts, bracelets, and earrings in leather. 70% of the trained artisans come are single mothers, who have been abused, and have the aspiration of finishing high school or beginning a professional career and have an artistic ability. 30% are young men who have an artistic ability, who are leaders in their community or church, or who have been raised in a dysfunctional family. Each artisan has shown the desire to grow and has a goal of pursuing a difference in their lives or communities. They are committed, loyal, responsible, compassionate, and elaborate each piece with passion and love.

The company contributes to the community by providing employment with a just salary and sponsoring education and training for the young men and women, creating a new workforce of skilled qualified artisans in Nicaragua. Artisans are selected from communities nearby Managua, the Capital of Nicaragua, where the company is located. Once selected, every new artisan is trained by an expert artisan, directly transmitting the knowledge and teaching them the trade. The company is constantly investing in the artisans with seminars, upgrading of products, tendencies in fashion, motivational seminars, and spiritual seminars, thus making a difference in the life of each collaborator who joins KUERO..

Born in Canada to Nicaraguan parents and raised in Nicaragua, Ana is a true Latina from heart to soul passionate about family and aesthetic pleasure. It is the alchemy of the two that have become the inspiration for her handbags designs. Nicaragua is a Central American Country filled with breathtaking beauty – her collections derive from the passion of Nicaraguas flora and fauna and natural beauty. Inspired by tropical culture and working closely with tannery owners has given her the opportunity for color innovation. She transforms local material such as ropes, hamac materials, and weaving, a technique learned from the Nicaraguan indigenous culture, into innovative pieces.

A portion of proceeds from this item is dedicated to Water For People, working to build a world where all people have access to safe drinking water and sanitation, and where no one suffers or dies from a water- or sanitation-related disease.
